Established by the Iowa legislature as part of the 1987 Iowa Groundwater Protection Act Named for Aldo Leopold, an Iowa-born conservationist, ecologist and educator Created to identify and reduce negative environmental impacts of farming and develop new ways to farm profitably while conserving natural resources
