1 Short Story Project Guidelines   Standards: ELA7R1-e. Identify events that advance the plot and determine how each event explains past or present action(s) or foreshadows future action(s). ELA7C1-h. Produce final drafts/presentations that demonstrate accurate spelling and the correct use of punctuation and capitalization.   Due Date: Aug. 26-29   Objective: After reading a short story, you will identify the major literary elements of the story and then label the elements of the plot using the plot diagram as a guide.

2 Project, cont…   Task: You and a partner will review and analyze the short story, “Victor” by James Howe. (Bridges literature book, p. 174.) Working together, you will create 1) a labeled plot diagram and 2) a visual representation of the story. See sample templates for guidelines.   Tips:   Plan your rough drafts together.   Then consider your individual strengths to choose individual responsibilities.   Each of you will be primarily responsible for one of these tasks   Refer to your power point notes for a review of literary terms.   Refer to examples and class notes from previous short stories in this unit.   Assessment: The Project Checklist will be used to determine final SUMMATIVE grade. According to school policy, late work will not be accepted.
