Dialogue Role A (Instructor)Role B (Students) Model Restaurant Dialog Seating Host/Hostess: Good Morning/Afternoon, Welcome to the TIEV Restaurant. How many are in your party? Host/Hostess: May I have your name? Please, be seated over there until your table is ready. Host/Hostess: (NAME) party of six, we can seat you now. Follow me. Host/Hostess: Here are the menus. Your server will come soon. Host/Hostess will then seat Party B using the same dialog. Eating Server: Hi, my name is _____________ and I am your server today. Have you had a chance to look at the menu? Do you have any questions? What would you like to order or what would you like to eat? For higher English functioning students, the server will answer questions about menu selections as prompted by individual student role plays. Server: Any other questions? No? Then, I will give you a few minutes to decide. Server will seat Party B using the same dialog. Server will return to Party A, then B, to refill water and take menu orders from each table or each student. Suggested Dialog Server: What would you like to have? Or, what would you like to order? Any appetizer today? Or, how about a dessert? And what would you like to drink? Thank you, I ’ ll be back with your order. The suggested dialog is repeated until all orders are taken. The menus are retrieved and the students can work puzzles on their place mat. Then the server returns with the orders Party A: There are____________ people in our party. Party A: _________________. Thank you. Party A: Thank you. Party A: Thanks. Party B: Same dialog as above. Party A/B: Students will ask questions about different items on the menu depending on their role play. Party A/B: Thank you. Party A/B: Each student or table of students will order according to his/her role play or the teacher ’ s instructions. Party A/B: According to their role play or teacher ’ s instructions, students will ask for more water or additional items from the menu. Party A/B: Students will ask for the check to pay their bill. Party A/B: Each student will place his/her money on the tip tray, leave the tip for the server and accept the receipt. All students in the party will leave the restaurant.
