2 Heather Wagstaff and Thomas Burg Two key purposes for census taking are: 1.to provide a solid basis for important political and/or economic decision making; and 2.to create a comprehensive set of reference data. Hence, data editing is essential to ensure sufficient quality of the final outputs. Topic (vi): Methodologies for Editing Census Data

10 Heather Wagstaff and Thomas Burg Topic (vi): Methodologies for Editing Census Data 1.Lessons learned from prior censuses do move us in the right direction to improve our processes. 2.Users of census data and subject matter experts are not provided with enough information about editing. 3.When moving towards register based census there is a clear need to research & investigate the impact of record linkage to edit and imputation 4.Post census surveys are a helpful tool to both evaluate the results and improve the processes
