Welcome to the world of wonderful WEATHER! In this book you will find all you need to know about weather. All the questions you have, just open this book and you will find all the answers. But, buckle your seatbelts cause this might be a windy ride!

Boom! Crash! Is it a original day, or is a deadly twister arriving? Are you wondering why we are calling tornados twisters? Well there are many different names for tornados. Here are a few names, twisters, dust devils, whirlwinds, waterspouts, and cyclones. An average twister travels at about 30 miles per hour and most twisters last less than 15 minutes.

How earthquakes form- Earthquakes form when huge plates of rocky crust move suddenly. The plates are then split by many cracks called faults. The edges of the plates are rough and can get stuck as the plates grind past each other. The forces within the Earth’s mantel that move huge plates of crust around the planets bend or deform, the rocks along fault lines. As rock bends energy builds within it. When the plates can no longer resist the energy the edges unstick along the fault and rocks snap and slip forward.

Twisters- you need to have a disaster plan, and prepare emergency food. You also need to go to your basement. If you do not have a basement, go to a place with no glass. After the twister stay indoors until it is safe to come out. Earthquakes- find the hardest book you can reach at the time. Wait until it is safe to come out.

- The single deadliest twister in history was the Tri-State Tornado. - The birth of a twister is usually a thunderstorm. - Each year lighting kills about 100 people in the United States. - Most thunderstorms end within a hour or two. - In 1991 a hurricane killed 135,000 people in Asia. - Meteorologists are scientists who study weather. - One way to survive tornados is to stay away from anything that involves glass. - Each year there are about 16 million thunderstorms around the world. - In the Tri- State Tornado there were 689 people killed, 2,000 people injured, and left 10,000 people homeless. - In 20 minutes a single thunderstorm can drop 125 million gallons of water.
