2 What happened  Hurricane Katrina in 2005 was the largest natural disaster in the history of the United States. Preliminary damage estimates were well in excess of $100 billion, eclipsing many times the damage wrought by Hurricane Andrew in 1992 Hurricane Andrew  The effects of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans were shocking and long-lasting. 3 Hurricane  A tropical cyclone is a storm system characterized by a large low-pressure center and numerous thunderstorm that produce strong winds and heavy rain.

4 Victims  Many Hurricane Katrina victims faced difficult living conditions even before the storm arrived. ハ Mississippi, Louisiana, and Alabama are, respectively, the first, second, and eighth poorest states in the nation. And of the 5.8 million individuals in these states who lived in the areas struck hardest by the hurricane, more than one million lived in poverty prior to the hurricane ユ s onset.

6 Help  People all around are helping out in community service, fundraisers, or others to help raise money or rebuild homes to help support or clear out all the problems from Hurricane Katrina.
