Problems with current CS education Students come into CS field – parents’ desire, potential high-paying jobs USA: Students want to be able to relate to the field, before entering! It is hard to relate to CS. Programming is introduced in wrong ways every where – painful & boring experience! Students resort to memorization (or) run away from programming as fast as possible!

Enjoyable introduction to programming? Yes, it is possible! Several FREE tools – developed by several universities and organizations Alice, Scratch & KhanAcademyCS are a few! Adoption is increasing, lot more needs to happen. I am working on web-based workshop materials for scalability.

Passionate about education? Passion seems to be missing for students, faculty and even in industry Passion enriches our lives – at every moment! Every great college/university needs to instill/encourage passion for learning. UT Dallas: Outreach programs are strongly encouraged. ATCAS: Passionate management, faculty & students!
