3 Installer Must be MCS certified for FiT Contract needs to cover: –Capacity –Price (+ any escalation or add-ons) –Deposit, stage payments and retentions –Timescales –Performance standards –Indemnities and warranties –Responsibilities, eg DNO application

4 Planners Planning permission needed for non-domestic PV – however small Building control is separate application Detailed drawings needed with application (so appoint installer first) Major source of risk and delay – even for PV

5 DNO DNO = distribution network operator Responsible for planning and operating national grid below 275kV G83 (up 16A/phase - 3.6kW single-phase/11kW 3- phase) – “fit and inform” G59 (over 16A/phase) – DNO clearance required PV installer should handle application Process should take 48 days from application

6 FiT Licensee Need licensed electricity supplier to register PV scheme for FiT “Big 6” are statutory FiT licensees Also voluntary FiT licensees, incl Good Energy, Ecotricity, Co-op Energy, Green Energy Need MCS certificate, capacity, location, metering details etc So can’t apply until installation complete
