2 Measuring Temperature Kelvin scale (K) When scientists work with very low temperatures, this scale is used. It is part of the SI system. The Kelvin scale begins at absolute zero, the temperature at which no more heat energy can be removed from matter which is the lowest possible temperature. We use the Celsius Temperature scale. Temperature is measured with a thermometer. 0 o C = 32 o F water freezes. 100 o C = 212 o F water boils
