5 Erasmo Seguin Tejano rancher who represented Texas at the Mexican Constitutional convention. He also located land for the Austin colony and supported Texas independence.

8 Empresario era in Texas History Started the creation of Anglo settlements Coahuila and Texas were combined into 1 state, but there were political divisions and tensions between the two Mexican officials wanted to settle areas closest to the United States to discourage US interference in Mexico One point of tension was slavery. Empresarios generally supported bringing slaves from the southern US into Texas, while the Mexican government was opposed to it. Read page 126
