2 BUILDING STRONG ® Program Goals Enhance the efficiency of the Corps Administration of its program Provide strong protection of the Nation’s aquatic environment, including wetlands and streams Ensure that the Corps provides the regulated public with fair and reasonable decisions

3 BUILDING STRONG ® Nationwide Permits  Nationwide Permits (NWP) are a mechanism used for a quick permit decision for projects with minimal impacts. 3

4 BUILDING STRONG ® NWP’s continued  Currently 51 NWP’s with NWP 26 reserved.  NWP’s are renewed every 5 years with the latest renewal in March of 2012.  NWP’s are for projects with minimal impacts.  Must be verified by Corps within 45 days of a complete submittal. 4

5 BUILDING STRONG ® NWP’s continues  Must be in compliance with all general conditions (SHPO, Endangered Species, etc.).  Mitigation may be required to ensure impacts are minimal. 5
