3 Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. Road traffic crashes rank as the 9th leading cause of death and account for 2.2% of all deaths globally. Each year nearly 400,000 people under 25 die on the world's roads, on average over 1,000 a day. Road crashes cost USD $518 billion globally, costing individual countries from 1-2% of their annual GDP. 5th leading cause of death by 2030. Over 37,000 people die in road crashes each year An additional 2.35 million are injured or disabled Over 1,600 children under 15 years of age die each year Road crashes cost the U.S. $230.6 billion per year, or an average of $820 per person

Our project consists of two things we hope to develop and contribute Virtual Integration (A Means…) Mobile Application (... to an End) The Means - a way of sandbox-ing software development that makes the process less costly, more timely, and efficient The End - a mobile application that enhances traditional route-planning services through weather data

5 Background SAVI: System Architecture Virtual Integration “Integrate, then Build” “70% of defects / bugs in software are introduced during requirements & design.” Finding faults and solutions earlier in development process = time, money, and manpower saved” IOT: The Internet of Things Integrating web-based services into products and environments where they have never gone before (in our case, cars).

6 Development/Functionality Virtual Integration developing a tailored version of SAVI for V2V communication. Vehicle-to-Vehicle Communication Components: Mobile App, Server, External Data Services Synthesizing multiple data services Integrating other services for improved functionality, such as Google maps

8 How It Helps Virtual Integration Streamlines software development process. What happens when we detect errors late? Development: could cost up to 16x more to correct Testing: could cost up to 100x more than to correct Provides a model for other industries outside aerospace to use VI Mobile Application Used by vehicles for personal/professional reasons to optimize safe traveling.

9 Who It Helps Virtual Integration: provides a working model for any company or person in an industry outside of aerospace technology to develop their own VI processes. Or, can also be used directly by anyone in the automotive industry. The Application can be useful to... taxi drivers firemen, police officers, EMTs ordinary civilians
