Growth in Southern Asia Since 1998, Southern Asia has had the highest annual growth rate 9.60% (1998) 9.60% (1998) 20.65% (1999) 20.65% (1999) 30.72% (2000) 30.72% (2000) 25.47% (2001) 25.47% (2001) 15.37% (past four quarters)

Statistics By the Day Each day during the past four quarters there were... + 2,623 Accessions + 2,623 Accessions - 674 Losses - 674 Losses = 1,569 Net increase = 1,569 Net increase

Membership Deaths Analysis (see insert) The Population Reference Bureau reports 9 deaths per 1,000 people each year Based on the Adventist membership per country (including significant numbers in higher death rate countries such as Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Haiti, Kenya, Rwanda), an average of 10.7 deaths per 1,000 Adventists can be determined. Based on the average annual reported Adventist deaths of 4.0 per 1,000, we can assume there were 6.7 unreported deaths per 1000 Adventists annually Or 371,000 unreported deaths over the past 5 years

Membership Deaths Analysis (see insert) Or 271,000 unreported deaths based on the the unweighted PRB worldwide average of 9 deaths per 1,000 Implication: Congregational audits will reveal membership discrepancies Recent audits, indeed, confirm this fact EAD, AID, & IAD should be commended for conducting major audits over the past 5 years Based on the membership deaths analysis, ESD, NAD, and TED seem to report mortality statistics most accurately

Membership Deaths Analysis (see insert)

Echoes from Our Past Just 3 days after 2 nd quarter ended, our membership had increased by 4,707 members In 1863 the General Conference organized with only 3,500 believers Based on the past four quarters’ growth rate (4.55%) we have grown by 158,469 since June 30 Or 4,600 more believers than the entire church 1917—54 years after we fully organized Possible because of strong growth base our 1863 leaders established

“…the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language and people” (Rev 14:6) Our Commission
