How to Play STATUES BY:CHELSEA & ISABELLA

This game is played in Greece.

American kids are not familiar with this game but, Greek kids know this game because they are amazing marble statues that date to ancient times.

You will need a large open space and you will need 4 or more players.

Choose 1 player to be IT. Have her/him cover their eyes in the center of the large open space.

The person who is IT will count to 10 or more.

While the person is counting, the others scatter around never sure when IT will yell “AGALMATA!!!!!!!”

When IT says “agalmata,” the players freeze taking on poses that look like famous statues.

They can choose which statue they have seen or saw like The Thinker, a Javelin Thrower, and even the Statue of Liberty.

Kids are allowed to use found items such as sticks, balls, or a frisbee to add a touch of real life.

If the players are moving that player will be out then the person who is it will try to make the others move.

The last person standing is the winner and he/her will be “IT’’.

This game is great practice for balance. This is a fun game, and you should try it!!!!!!
