Chapter 1 Lesson 1

 Elements are building blocks of matter  Elements can not be broken into smaller pieces  Only a few elements exist in pure form  All things around you are made of a few kinds of matter

 Physical properties are those that can be seen or measured without changing materials  Other physical properties include whether a substants is magnetic  Weight changes if an object moves to a place where gravity is stronger or weaker.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF MATTER A substance chemical properties tell how the substance from a new substance when mixed with something else EX : Wood: doesn't conduct electricity

. Chemical properties describe how a substance reacts chemically with another. They deal with the molecular composition of matter. The properties of matter are the characteristics, which help us to identify them. Matter has both chemical and physical properties. Physical properties can easily be seen or measured. They do not depend on the molecular composition of matter.
