1 Hepatitis C RSP Guidance 2016/17 In 2015/16, implementation began on a revised approach to the delivery of hepatitis C services Resources directed towards detection, management and treatment of hepatitis C in at risk populations Community based Fibroscanning - an effective tool used to assess disease progression and triage patients The Hepatitis C Implementation Advisory Group was set up in June 2015 to develop guidance for nationally consistent regional services

2 Hepatitis C RSP Guidance 2016/17 The clinical hepatitis C pathway includes awareness raising, targeted testing in order to identify undiagnosed individuals living with chronic hepatitis C infection, identification of people previously diagnosed but lost to follow-up, and assessment and management In the Central and Midland region, the current hepatitis C clinical services delivered in the four pilot DHBs will continue and then be rolled-out to the rest of the region For the Northern and South Island regions, support is being given to refine or establish clinical care hep C pathways in the region

3 Regional Planning Objectives for 2016/17 To implement a single clinical pathway for hepatitis C care across all regions in order to provide consistent services which maximise the wellbeing of all New Zealanders living with hepatitis C To implement integrated hepatitis C assessment and treatment services across community, primary and secondary care services in the region

4 Regional Service Planning Measures – Hepatitis C MeasuresData and source 1.Number of people diagnosed with hepatitis C per annum (by age). Total number of people with a positive HCV PCR test in the DHB region (data from 5 reference labs provided to regional DHBs). 1.Number of HCV patients who have had a Fibroscan in the last year (a) new patients (b) follow up (by age and ethnicity). Total number of hepatitis C Fibroscans performed annually (data from the delivery of Fibroscans in primary and secondary care). 1.Number of people receiving PHARMAC funded antiviral treatment per annum (by age and ethnicity). Total number of people prescribed antiviral treatment who have hepatitis C (data from PHARMAC provided to regional DHBs). Report six monthly broken down by quarters on the following measures:
