How God Displays His majesty Psalm 8

Psalm 8:1-2 O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens! 2 From the mouth of infants and nursing babes You have established strength Because of Your adversaries, To make the enemy and the revengeful cease.

GOD DISPLAYS HIS MAJESTY…
By His ability to use the simple

Matthew 21:14-16 And the blind and the lame came to Him in the temple, and He healed them. 15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that He had done, and the children who were shouting in the temple, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became indignant 16 and said to Him, “Do You hear what these children are saying?” And Jesus *said to them, “Yes; have you never read, ‘Out of the mouth of infants and nursing babies You have prepared praise for Yourself’?” CHILDREN were more able to identify the Son of God then the “educated” ones!

But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. (1 Corinthians 1:27-29, ESV)

Psalm 8:4 “What is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?”

Psalm 33:13-15 The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men; 14 From His dwelling place He looks out On all the inhabitants of the earth, 15 He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who understands all their works.

Psalm 33:18-19 Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness, 19 To deliver their soul from death And to keep them alive in famine.

Luke 12:6-7 “Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.”

GOD DISPLAYS HIS MAJESTY…
By His ability to use the simple By His concern for man By granting dominion to mankind

Psalm 8:6-8 6 You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, 7 All sheep and oxen, And also the beasts of the field, 8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

It has been testified somewhere, “What is man, that you are mindful of him, or the son of man, that you care for him? You made him for a little while lower than the angels; you have crowned him with glory and honor, putting everything in subjection under his feet.” Now in putting everything in subjection to him, he left nothing outside his control. At present, we do not yet see everything in subjection to him. But we see him who for a little while was made lower than the angels, namely Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. (Hebrews 2:6-10, ESV)

Conclusion: Do you think the stars in the sky are awesome? Jesus is called “the Bright and Morning Star.” It is through Him this world receives light. It is through Him simple men like you and me can be made great. It was through Him the worlds were made as well as you and I. It is through Him that we may “reign as kings and priests” in a “new heavens and new earth” that will be free of the sin, sorrows and suffering we see in this life. Amazingly, the majestic God who rules the universe cares about you and me and it is time we started giving Him the praise He deserves and the honor He is owed by turning our lives over to Him as our Creator.
