2 FFree Group Tutoring for 13th grade students in 5 High Schools : 3 major subjects taught by certified teachers during help sessions. OOOObjective : Increase Baccalauréat success rate and provide accompanying measures to new graduates in the target region. TTarget region : G reater Kloto including the districts of Agou, Danyi, Kloto, and Kpélé-Akata. 4 Background - Pilot Program Background - Pilot Program  In response to previous years high failure rates in Greater Kloto for the national college entrance exam (“Baccalauréat”) in Togo, West Africa, Global PAD initiated a free group tutoring program in spring of 2012 as pilot at Kpodzi high school.  The program’s 1st edition covered about 25% of the 861 candidates. Program participants’ success rate was 54%. General Success rate (all candidates) in Kpodzi High School was 49%.  Repeated in 2013, the program covered 28% of the 885 candidates in Kpodzi High. Program participants’ success rate was 65%. General Success rate was 43% for Kpodzi High School and 42% for the whole country.  In 2014 we failed to implement the program due to lack of funding. And the success rate of Kpodzi High School decreased to 42% that year.  The Program covered 180 of the 868 candidates in Kpodzi High School in 2015. Program participants’ success rate was74%. Kpodzi HS had one of the top performance in the nation with a general score of 58%.

6 2015 Expansion and Results (5 High Schools)  The tutoring program was expanded to 5 High Schools in 2015 and covered 30% of the total Baccalauréat candidates in those schools.  Program success rate was consistently higher than individual general score in all of the 5 High Schools (Average of 67% vs 47%).  With the pilot program experience, Kpodzi HS performed the highest in both program scores and the individual High Schools general scores.

7 Program Objectives  Mobilize funds to provide free refresher courses to 2,600 student- candidates through our mentoring program in 2016.  Reach a total coverage of 100% in the 5 target High Schools (Kpodzi HS, Zomayi HS, Adeta HS, Agou-Gare HS, Danyi Apeyeyeme HS) in 2016.  Achieve 85% minimum success rate in all 5 target High Schools in 2016.  Grant excellence awards to the most deserving graduates and implement accompanying measures for all new graduates.

8 Estimate of 2016’s Edition  For a total of 87 groups (or classes): in Kpodzi, Zomayi, Kpélé-Adéta, Agou-Gare, and Danyi-Apéyémé High Schools,  For 30 class sessions per group (3 key subjects per group and 10 sessions per subject), and  $10 tutors’ incentive per class session - Rate already agreed to by the teachers and perceived in previous years. $29,150  We need a total of $29,150 USD (see expenses summary on next slide): inclusive are tutors’ incentive, coordination, and stationery expenses.
