Romans 11:11 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. 12 Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean! 13 Now I am speaking to you Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle to the Gentiles, I magnify my ministry 14 in order somehow to make my fellow Jews jealous, and thus save some of them. 15 For if their rejection means the reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance mean but life from the dead?

Romans 11:16 If the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, so is the whole lump, and if the root is holy, so are the branches. 17 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, 18 do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you. 19 Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.

Romans 11:22 Note then the kindness and the severity of God: severity toward those who have fallen, but God's kindness to you, provided you continue in his kindness. Otherwise you too will be cut off. 23 And even they, if they do not continue in their unbelief, will be grafted in, for God has the power to graft them in again. 24 For if you were cut from what is by nature a wild olive tree, and grafted, contrary to nature, into a cultivated olive tree, how much more will these, the natural branches, be grafted back into their own olive tree.

ROMANS 9-11 REVIEW All whom God has elected to salvation will be saved (9:6-24) Not all Israel will be saved and some Gentiles will be (9:25-29) The failure of the Jews to believe is their own fault (9:30-10:21) There has always been a Jewish remnant that has been saved (11:1-10)

ROMANS 11:11-24 Israel has “stumbled”, but their stumble is temporary Israel’s stumble had a purpose: it would be used by God to bring salvation to the Gentiles Gentile salvation will make Israel envious and be used by God to bring salvation to the Jews Israel’s salvation will be used by God to bring even greater blessings to the Gentiles

Romans 11:11 So I ask, did they stumble in order that they might fall? By no means! Rather through their trespass salvation has come to the Gentiles, so as to make Israel jealous. Acts 13:46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it aside and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, behold, we are turning to the Gentiles.

Romans 11:12 Now if their trespass means riches for the world, and if their failure means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full inclusion mean!

If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you

Romans 11:19 Then you will say, “Branches were broken off so that I might be grafted in.” 20 That is true. They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you stand fast through faith. So do not become proud, but fear. 21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, neither will he spare you.

1 John 2:19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us. 1 Peter 1:10 Therefore, brothers be all the more diligent to make your calling and election sure, for if you practice these qualities you will never fall. 11 For in this way there will be richly provided for you an entrance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

PRINCIPLES The majority of Jews currently reject Jesus Christ, but there is still a remnant, and in the future God will save the nation of Israel The “tree” of salvation is Jewish and not Gentile All with saving faith fear God and show fruit from the Holy Spirit in the way they live God will use believer’s saving faith to incite Israel to trust in Jesus Christ as Savior

APPLICATIONS Is your attitude towards the Jews the same as God’s? What is your attitude towards God? What is your attitude towards your salvation? What “fruit” is present in your life to prove that you are not just an “ethnic Christian”? What needs to change in your life so that unbelievers would be envious of what God has done for you?
