By Nicholas Tam Tricky Triangles

Triangles Triangles are the smallest of the two-dimensional geometric figures (three sides). A triangle ALWAYS has three sides. The sum of the interior angles of a triangle will always add up to 180 degrees. Scalene, Isosceles, Equilateral, and Right are all types of triangles. Just like any polygon, triangles are separated by their properties.

Tricky Triangle Task Research all of the different types of triangles. Fill out Triangle Fact Worksheet (provided by the teacher). Choose one kind of triangle and create a cartoon character and write a brief character description based on its properties. For example, Equilateral Earl loves everything the same. His friends are always trying to make Earl, but he needs everything to be equal. Even when he shares, everyone must get the same amount. Your Triangle needs to be drawn using MS Paint or right on the PowerPoint slide. Be sure to include the description with your picture.

On the Slide… Make sure to include: Character’s Name Drawing Description of character including traits based on its properties.

You Be The Teacher Partner Project Using the computers and resources in our room, you and your partner will find two types of triangles. The triangles must be different from the one you used for your Character Triangle. Using the worksheet, you will name, draw, and write the definition of your triangles. You and your partner will create two PowerPoint slides. The first slide: Come up with one question about your triangles The second slide: Create an Answer Slide and create a slide. You and your partner will present our slides to the class. Have fun and be creative!

What type of triangle am I? A B C Right Triangle Isosceles Triangle Equilateral Triangle Example

Answer B Isosceles Triangle A – Right Triangle: a triangle with one right angle. B – Isosceles Triangle: a triangle with at least two sides in equal length. C - Equilateral Triangle: a triangle with all three sides equal in length.
