2 {Definition of Light Pillars}
Sometimes during very cold weather, vertical columns of light beaming directly upwards are visible. These are called light pillars which are created by the reflection of light from ice crystals with near horizontal parallel planar surfaces. The light can come from the Sun which is usually at or low to the horizon, in which case the phenomenon is called a sun pillar or solar pillar. This phenomena also can come from the Moon or from terrestrial sources such as streetlights. Light pillars are an optical phenomenon where columns of light can be seen emanating from below or above a light source.

3 {Definition of Light Pillars}
Ice Crystals # Ice crystals can be found high up in the sky all around the world, at any time of the year. These crystals, which have a hexagonal molecular structure, are found in the cirrus clouds. These crystals are known as diamond dust. Ice crystals is always hexagonal, their shape can vary from a flat plate to a column.

4 *Causes of Light Pillars*
Light Pillars can happen during day and night due to the Earth’s rotation. It usually happens during winter time and this is related to the Earth’s revolution. Light Pillars can be visible when the Sun is low or lies below the horizon, this is related to the Earth’s rotation.

5 []How Does it Happen][ Light Pillars
Sunlight or Moonlight which is low or below the horizon reflected by ice crystals. The column of light can be seen emanating from below or above a light source, this is known as light pillars.

6 []How Does it Happen][ Light Pillars
Sun pillars happen when the sunlight strikes crystals from a different angles. Instead of going through the body of the crystal, reflecting off its sides, the light hits the bottom of the crystals and reflects back down to the earth.

7 []How Does it Happen][ Light Pillars
Colorful light pillars appear in winter when snow or ice crystals reflect light from a strong source like the sun or moon. Light pillars appear when light bounces off the surface of flat ice crystals floating relatively close to the ground. The pillars look like feathers of light that extend vertically either above or below the light source, or both.

8 %*Impacts of Light Pillars*%
Impact to Beliefs # The people’s beliefs, who saw that phenomena that there is unlimited supernatural power who has created the Light Pillars, and it’s not human. So, they praise and worship to God, to avoid the God’s anger and also they hope to be blessed and bring prosperity to them.

Impacts to Social # People who live there, think that this kind of magic phenomena created by extra-terrestrial or alien, so there will be a fear in the society. Light pillars have also been known to produce false UFO reports. Niagara Falls is one such area, where the mist from the Niagara Falls causes the phenomenon to appear frequently during the winter months, where the ice crystals interact with the city's many upward facing spotlights to create prominent light pillars. Also it is good for tourism, many tourist from other country come to see this phenomena.

10 %*Impacts of Light Pillars*%
Impact to Environment # Make those places famous and become special because the light pillars is beautiful. The environment on that area will be protected, keep clean and tidy, to attract tourism. Inspired people to use light pillars background for show.
