3 Drummer Boys Many kids in the civil war were musicians. There were really no girls in the Civil War mostly only boys. The drummer boys job was to lead marching troops. This led to many being shot because they were in the front of the army. It took courage to be a drummer boy more then a soldier because you were in front of the army, a perfect target for someone to aim at.

4 Kids in the Civil War lied about their age to get into the army. Many boys were as young as 9 years old. Children were victims in the civil war. There were between 250,000 and 420,000 boy soldiers. Kids were also spies in the civil war, they carried maps and other important documents past soldiers.

5 K ids Clothing Kids in the civil war wore cloths like farm boys or town apprentices. They were made with heavy course, durable fabrics that could withstand the hard daily labor. Children also wore cotton shirts woolen vests “In cool weather’’and suspenders (not belts) to hold up there pants.

6 Kids As Nurses Kids assisted the wounded and the sick. They changed the wounded bandages. They brought the injured soldiers water and food. Also they changed the beds.
