12. Jeremiah 38:7-10 7 But Ebed-Melech, a Cushite, an official in the royal palace, heard that they had put Jeremiah into the cistern. While the king was sitting in the Benjamin Gate, 8 Ebed- Melech went out of the palace and said to him, 9 "My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have thrown him into a cistern, where he will starve to death when there is no longer any bread in the city.“ 10 Then the king commanded Ebed-Melech the Cushite, "Take thirty men from here with you and lift Jeremiah the prophet out of the cistern before he dies."

34. Series: Bible Characters we must not forget! Ebed-Melech, by faith he did the right thing! Jeremiah 38:7-10 Text: Jeremiah 38:7-10 Thesis: Ebed-Melech trusted in the Lord and it motivated him to do the right thing which rescued Jeremiah, God’s prophet.

37. The Life and Times of Jeremiah the prophet.  An unpopular message, “surrender and you will live”  Men of Judah viewed Jeremiah as a traitor. Put him in a dungeon, in stocks, held prisoner in the courtyard, lowered into a muddy cistern.  Zedekiah, the last king of Judah, who ignored Jeremiah’s warnings.  The consequence of not listening to God’s word:  Jerusalem burned….. The men died, or were captive…..Jerusalem burned…..Zedekiah’s eyes poked out, sons killed before him, died in a far off prison. What Jesus said? Matthew 23:33-39
