School Performance Grades Required grade of A-F for each school in NC For high schools, grades determined by: –Percent of students scoring proficient on the English II, Algebra I/Integrated Mathematics I, and Biology End-of-Course assessments –Percent of students who demonstrate workplace readiness on WorkKeys –Percent of students who demonstrate college readiness on the ACT –Percent of students who graduate within four years of entering high school –Percent of students who take and pass a higher-level mathematics course (Algebra II or Integrated Mathematics III)

School Performance Grades For elementary and middle schools, grades determined by: –Percent of students scoring proficient on English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science End-of-Grade assessments General Assembly intends to include growth in performance grades Legislature will approve final grading process in session beginning January 2013

CPR Certification as Graduation Requirement CPR certification required to graduate Certification should take place as part of grade 8 Healthful Living class High schools need to screen students to ensure requirement has been met Certification must be entered into new field in Student Information System (SIS) Requirement begins in 2014 - 2015

10. Elementary Licensure Revise Coursework/Competencies in Reading and Mathematics Review required assessments (replacing Praxis with Massachusetts tests for licensure) Use technology-based formative assessments (Reading 3D) Integrate Arts into curriculum
