5 5 1. Key decisions / outcomes expected at ICCM4 Agreement on the Overall Orientation and Guidance towards the achievement of the 2020 goal – a key strategic policy piece. Identifies 6 Core Activity Areas: A. Enhanced responsibility of stakeholders; B. Establish and strengthen national legislative and regulatory frameworks for chemicals and waste; C. Mainstream the sound management of chemicals and waste in the post-2015 development agenda; D. Increase efforts on emerging policy issues; E. Promote information access; F. Assess progress towards the 2020 goal, understanding the gaps in implementation and prioritizing actions for 2020.

6 6 2. Key decisions / outcomes expected at ICCM4 Consideration of the Sustainable Development Goals. Discussion on sound management of chemicals beyond 2020.

Key decisions / emerging policy issues and other issues of concern Proposals: environmentally persistent pharmaceutical pollutants; highly hazardous pesticides; Existing emerging policy issues: Lead in paint; Chemicals in products; Hazardous substances within the life-cycle of electrical and electronic products; Nanotechnologies; Endocrine-disrupting chemicals; Other issues of concern: perfluorinated chemicals.

8 8 High–Level Segment Commitment of all stakeholders is essential for the SAICM model to reach its full capacity during the critical time leading up to 2020. The High-Level Segment will provide a platform to: Inspire wider stakeholder engagement and renewed commitment to implement the Strategic Approach. Explore possibilities of the SAICM model to the fullest to accelerate implementation towards the 2020 goal. Link to the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda. Promote efficient collaboration between policy areas at all levels. Consider actions post-2020.

9 9 Side Events and Exhibition Area One of the core functions of the ICCM is to promote information exchange and scientific and technical cooperation. Side events daily from 1 pm to 3 pm and exhibition throughout the week. Stakeholders interested in hosting a side-event or exhibiting should formally submit a request, no later than 17 July 2015.
