2 The CF is a non-profit charitable organization established in 1992 by the BC government under the Coquitlam Foundation Act in response to dedicated community founding members. Our mission is to encourage and support creative, targeted philanthropy that builds a vibrant, sustainable, and healthy community. ABOUT US

Philanthropic donations, endowments, gifts, sponsors, external fund raising The CF manages the assets and annually distributes grants, scholarships and bursaries from the proceeds Volunteers

Funds Management: The Coquitlam Foundation oversees and administers over 25 different funds - most funds are ‘endowed’ donations or gifts - the capital is invested and returns are available for distribution. “A one time gift gives forever.” Foundation-directed funds - CF Board decides how earnings are used. Donor-advised (“restricted”) funds - donor stipulates how earnings are used. - types include: Family/Memorial, Agency and Specialty funds. Two Types of Funds:

RESULTS: July 1, 2014 – June 30, 2015 The Foundation’s net assets at year-end were $2,753,620 Consisting of: Foundation-Directed funds: $1,376,407 Donor-Advised funds: $1,233,659 General Fund: $ 143,554 Interest on investments for 2014/2015 was 3.2% $160,860 was distributed in scholarships, bursaries and grants The CF’s 2014/15 Financial Report is available on-line at www.coquitlamfoundation.com/reports

THE WAY AHEAD: Achieving Self-Sustaining Operation - Requires increased funds under management Managing Growth Effectively - Requires coordinated and skilled volunteer support Escalating Awards Outcomes - Requires greater response to calls for fund applications More people need to know about the Foundation’s Awards programs and the mechanisms the Foundation has to support philanthropy to strengthen our community.

17 invest. enrich. inspire. The Foundation’s operations are modest – volunteer driven with no permanent employees and no physical office. Our operating costs, including professional portfolio management, awards events, audits, contracted services, etc are supported by:  Full self sufficiency will require net assets to grow to ~ $5 Million fees on donor-advised funds of 1.25% of the annual investment return (0.5 % is directly for portfolio management) fundraising (e.g. “Burger & Beer Nights”) SUPPORT FOR FOUNDATION OPERATIONS:

Help us increase awareness about the Coquitlam Foundation – mention us to friends and contacts; suggest the Foundation as a place for philanthropy that benefits the community Support the Foundation by participating in our events – like our Grants and Awards night, our AGM, and our annual fundraiser event “ Kickin’ It Country ” Encourage qualified potential volunteers to consider the Coquitlam Foundation for service on our Board or Committees OUR CALL FOR ACTION:
