2  Projectile motion refers to objects that are flying through the air  Ex: thrown football, golf ball hit from tee  These objects follow a curved path

3  Horizontal  Constant Speed (No force applied in the x- direction)  Vertical  Constant force in the y-direction: GRAVITY  Causes objects to decrease speed as they rise and increase speed as they fall (remember the marble free fall lab)  Example: a fired bullet will land at the same time as a dropped bullet if both begin with the same horizontal speed (zero)

4  Changing the angle at which projectiles are released can cause them to travel further and stay in the air longer if the force remains the same

5 Notice: v x remains the same and v y increases. What causes this to happen?
