5 Daily routine Whether you have a full shower in the morning or before you go to bed, washing is an important part of the daily routine. It does two important things: –Stops you from smelling –Kills germs and helps you to avoid getting ill.

6 Washing your hands 1.Lauren is visiting the stables with her mum. She has been stroking the horses, helping to comb their hair and feeding them carrots. Answer: Yes! Whenever you have been touching animals you should wash your hands to stop the spread of germs.

7 Washing your hands Answer: Yes! He might have picked up some germs when he was handling the football. 2. Ollie is out playing football with his mates. They have been playing headers and volleys so he been playing in goal some of the time.

8 Washing your hands 3.Ahmed has just had his breakfast and taken a shower. Answer: No! Ahmed should have clean hands now he has had a shower.

9 Washing your hands 4.Becky has been reading her favourite magazine. Answer: Yes! Magazine and newspaper print can come off on your hands so it is best to wash them after reading.

10 Washing your hands 5.Dan has been helping his dad feed the orphan lambs their milk. Answer: Yes! Whenever you have been touching animals you should wash your hands to stop the spread of germs.

11 Washing your hands Washing your hands seems so easy but there are a few simple things which are easy to forget so here’s a little reminder on how to get them really clean….

12 Washing your hands 1.Firstly wet your hands all over. 2. Then add enough soap to cover both of your hands.

13 Washing your hands 3.Rub your hands together, firstly palm to palm. 4. Then rub the back of each hand with the palm of the other hand with fingers interlaced.

14 Washing your hands 5.Rub your palms together with the fingers interlaced. 6. Rub with the back of your fingers to the opposing palms with fingers interlocked.

15 Washing your hands 7.Rub each thumb clasped in the opposite hand using a rotational movement. 8. Rub the tips of your fingers in the opposite palm in a circular motion

16 Washing your hands 9.Rub each wrist with the opposite hand. 10. Rinse hands with water.

17 Washing your hands 11. Use your elbow to turn off the tap. 12. Dry your hands thoroughly with a single- use towel. 13. It should take you about 30 seconds to wash your hands properly.
