Evaluating the best available scientific, clinical and economic evidence
Weighing the use of the drug and its impact on patient population outcomes
Cost/benefit analysis
Relating drug therapy choices to practice guidelines
Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee (P&T Committee)
Responsible for developing, managing, updating and administering the formulary system that is utilized by managed health care system

3. P&T Competition Goals
Develop clinical analysis, presentation and research skills
View different styles and processes that can be used in effective formulary management
Gain a real world perspective of the formulary management process

4. P&T Competition
Each team submits required written material in the preliminary round
Each team presents their work to the judges in a 30 min video-taped presentation
Judges decide on 1st, 2nd and 3rd place based on the quality of written materials and presentation
winning team’s video gets submitted to the national
A total of 8 teams are chosen from all the chapters to compete at a national level

5. 2015 winners Many appearances at nationals, especially mid ’00s
Highest finish 2nd place nationally: in 2007 and 2008
Last appearance at nationals was 2012
This year we hope you guys bring us back into the nationals
We aim to earn a better place this year

TWO elective credit hours
Strong resume builder
Each of the 8 teams selected to compete in the national P&T Competition will receive $4000 stipend
Each of the three winning teams will receive a contribution to their school’s general scholarship fund
First place team- $4000
Second place team- $3000
Third place team- $2000
