RRISD Dress Code Policy 2015-2016

Dress Code– What do I where? There is a time and place for specific types of attire such as School Church Job Interview Wedding At a Pool Party or social gathering at a friends house. Some attire worn at a social gathering on the weekend is NOT appropriate for School or other settings. Know the difference!

Do not wear to School: No clothing featuring pictures, emblems, writings, or slogans that are lewd, offensive risqué, vulgar, obscene, provocative. Examples of Images on T Shirt, Hats, and other articles of clothing: Images of drugs, tobacco, or alcohol Images of women in bikini’s or limited amount of clothing. Curse words No attire or grooming that identifies or promotes a student as part of an unauthorized group, such as a gang. No Bandanas No clothing or accessories that promote violence, weapons, bombs, illegal acts.

Pants, Jeans, Shorts, and Skirts: Shorts and skirts must be at finger-tip or mid-thigh length as measured with relaxed shoulders Examples of clothing not acceptable: Running shorts, short shorts, and mini skirts are not allowed unless they meet fingertip length. Pants, jeans, shorts, and skirts must be worn at the hip and cover undergarments. No SAGGING If wearing leggings, athletic tights, or spandex pants– top must be long enough to cover over hips and back side.

Shirts, Blouses, Sweatshirts, Sweaters: No strapless tops, spaghetti-strap tops, backless, halters, large armholes, or off-the- shoulder tops No low necklines (which reveal cleavage) No see-through or mesh shirts, when shirt worn underneath does not meet this dress code Tops must meet the beltline and must not reveal undergarments or skin Shirts exposing the stomach are not school appropriate.

Dress Code Violation Consequences: Consequence #1 The student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school 1. Change into an article of clothing provided (such as a shirt or sweat pants) 2. Turn in the piece of clothing that is out of dress code. 3. Returned provided clothing at the end of the day and personal clothing is returned to student. Consequence #2: T-shirt w/inappropriate image- turn inside out if image isn’t visible.

Additional Consequences: Refusal to change and Repeat Offenders will be issued an Office referral and their Principal will determine additional consequences.

Who can address a student for Dress Code? Any adult working at Cedar Ridge High School that is employed by Round Rock School District. ***Disrespectful behavior towards a school employee addressing the dress code violator can lead to further consequences and office referral.***
