2 Background Information It lasted 3 and half hours long Traveled 219 miles through the states of Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana. It killed 695 people, injured 2,027 and destroyed 15,000 homes Longest and deadliest tornado in US history

3 Lets put this in perspective Griffin, Indiana Typically, tornadoes travel about 30 miles per hour and are between 500 to 2,000 feet wide. They also usually travel about 6 miles before disappearing

4 Originated in Ozarks, Missouri and headed east Winds reached speeds over 300 mph which classify it as an F5 tornado It was three quarters of a mile wide It traveled at an average of 62mph

5 Lack of Technology Because the tornado happened in 1925, there was a lack of technology This caused no warning to the people Different reasoning for its rare characteristics People still aren’t sure if it was a family of tornadoes or just one

7 Conclusion The tri-state tornado was the longest and deadliest in US history This type of tornado is extremely rare but is predicted to happen again Due to the lack of technology we don’t know the cause of the tornado and it’s exact forecasts.
