The production of food, animal feed, fibre, and other goods by ht systematic growing of plants and the breeding and raising of animals Farming where the amounts of capital and labour are small in relation to the land being farmed The ability of a farmer to produce food indefinitely without damaging the local ecosystem Foods produced from the genetic modification of organisms [GMO] which have had their genome altered through genetic engineering techniques

3 Observations The difference in available food energy from MEDW to LEDW is from 3780 to 1580 [Somalia]. How do these figures compare? what is the range? Japan has a figure of 2900, why this low? Over 25% of food in industrialised countries are cereals, a quarter from meat, fish, eggs, milk + cheese In the least developed countries 46% from cereals, 20% from tubers. Does this cause Under-nutrition of Malnutrition? Nutrients, minerals vitamins protein + fat lacking in LEDW - can we identify this area? [look at Smill Fig 6.1] How does the higher level of fats in MEDW manifest itself [look at inner brown wheel of pie chart on Smill 6.2] INFO FROM BarkRedSkin 202+ and Smill 202
