Scripture Reading

Matthew 28:18-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations”

Great Commission Baptism  Does it continue today?  Who is preaching it?  Many creeds deny God’s purpose in baptism

“Now it is different…”  “It is most likely that in the Apostolic age and one baptism,’ and no differing denominations existed, the baptism of a convert by that very act constituted him a member of the church, and at once endowed him with all the rights and privileges of full membership. In that sense, ‘baptism was the door into the church.” Now it is different….” (Hiscox Manual, p. 22)

“What is different?…” Eph 4:4-5  If Baptism is different now, why is it different?  Did God or man make it different?  But notice “one Lord, one faith, one baptism”  Is “one Lord” different today?  Is “one faith” different?  There were no denominations when Eph 4 was written

Great Commission Baptism  Does it continue today?  Who is preaching it?  Many creeds deny God’s purpose in baptism  We still preach “one Lord, one faith, one baptism”  Purpose: Look at all the baptisms of the Bible  See why “one baptism” is still true today.

All the Baptisms of the Bible  Baptism of Fire Mt. 3:10-12  Note context - Fire of Judgment  No one wants this “baptism”

All the Baptisms of the Bible  Baptism for the dead 1 Cor 15:29  Context: study of resurrection  If the dead are not raised, why would anyone be baptized “for the dead” (in view of the dead), if the dead are not raised?
