3 Overview This unit discusses health care settings in terms of where care is rendered and how these settings are organized. 4 Overview (cont’d) At the local level, the organization of different health care provider settings is discussed. Although the US does not have national health care, the VA and the military health care systems are financed by the federal government and will be discussed. 9 The Organization of Federal Health Care (cont’d) AoA - Administration on Aging AoA – The Administration on Aging (AoA) is the Federal agency responsible for advancing the concerns and interests of older people and their caregivers. AoA works with and through the Aging Services Network to promote the development of a comprehensive and coordinated system of home and community-based long-term care that is responsive to the needs and preferences of older people and their family caregivers.
