Introductory elements Use a comma to set off introductory elements. *Intro elements are phrases that can be removed from the BEGINNING of a sentence without changing the essential meaning of that sentence. Added Information Use a comma to set off added information. *Added info are phrases that can be removed from the MIDDLE or END of a sentence without changing the essential meaning of that sentence.
