Mrs. Ruben thinks her class of twenty-four students will each like to have the same amount of cookies as her children. How many total cookies will Mrs. Ruben bake for her class of twenty-four students ? Show all of your mathematical thinking.

Carlos wants to repair two sections of a brick sidewalk. Each section needs fifty-two new bricks. Carlos goes to the brick yard. The brick yard sells bricks in loads of forty-five bricks. Each load of bricks costs sixty-five dollars. How many loads of bricks does Carlos need to buy to repair the brick sidewalk? How much does Carlos pay for the bricks?

The answer is $195. Here is how we got the answer: 1. 52*2=104 2. 104/45=2 r14 3. He needs 3 loads to repair the sidewalk. 4. 3*65=195 Carlos pays $195.

There are seventeen students in a class. Twice a year, each student gets a new box of crayons. Boxes of crayons are packaged in groups of twelve. How many packages of twelve crayon boxes does the class need for a year? Show all your mathematical thinking.

The answer is about three packages per year. Here is how we got it: 1. 17*2=34 boxes per year. 2. 34/12=2r10 The class needs about three packages per year.
