5
Wait for it! On one occasion, while he was eating with them, he gave them this command: “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised, which you have heard me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
6
Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. Wait for it!
7
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:4-8 Wait for it!
8
First reason “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait…” Waiting proves faith
9
These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire— may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. 1 Peter 1:7
10
Then they gathered around him and asked him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?” Second reason
11
He said to them: “It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. Acts 1:6-7 Waiting builds endurance Second reason
12
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4 Wait for it!
13
Third reason But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8
14
Third bi-product Waiting produces power!
15
Yet those who wait for the L ORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary. Isaiah 40:31
16
How to “wait well” Align your will with His Doing the right things Refraining from the wrong things Seeking the Lord
17
Prayer “Lord, my way is dark, I’ve been waiting a long time for a change in my circumstances, but I’m going to obey your word, follow your path, submit to your leadership; and I believe that after I have done the will of God, I WILL receive your promise.”
