5 Credit Risk – The risk to earnings or capital arising from an obligor’s failure to meet the terms of any contract with the Bank or otherwise to perform as agreed. Reputational Risk – The potential that negative publicity regarding an institution’s business practices, whether true or not, will cause a material decline in the customer base, costly litigation, or revenue reductions. 6 Compliance/Legal Risk – The risk arising from violations of or nonconformance with laws, rules, regulations, internal policies and procedures, or ethical standards. Operational Risk – The risk arising form fraud, error, and the inability to deliver products or services, maintain a competitive position and manage information.
