Instructions for using this template. Remember this is Jeopardy, so where I have written “Answer” this is the prompt the students will see, and where I have “Question” should be the student’s response. To enter your questions and answers, click once on the text on the slide, then highlight and just type over what’s there to replace it. If you hit Delete or Backspace, it sometimes makes the text box disappear. When clicking on the slide to move to the next appropriate slide, be sure you see the hand, not the arrow. (If you put your cursor over a text box, it will be an arrow and WILL NOT take you to the right location.)

Choose a category. You will be given the answer. You must give the correct question. Click to begin.

What is melting?

The change from liquid to solid.

What is freezing?

The change from a gas to a liquid.

What is condensation?

The change from a solid directly into a gas.

What is sublimation?

This is the change from a liquid into a gas.

What is evaporation?

In a solid, this is how the particles move.

What is vibrate?

This has no definite shape and no definite volume.

What is a gas?

Oxygen is a gas at room temperature. This is how its particles move.

What is fast?

These two changes in state require adding energy.

What are melting and evaporation (and sublimation)?

These two changes in state require removing energy.

What are freezing and condensation?

An ice cube is placed in the sun. Later there is a puddle of water. Later still the puddle is gone..

What is a physical change?

An antacid tablet placed in water produces bubbles..

What is a chemical change?

A match is lit.

What is a chemical change?

Two substances are mixed and light is produced..

What is a chemical change?

A solid is crushed to a powder.

What is a physical change?

You slice a pizza.

What is a physical change?

The explosion of fireworks.

What is a chemical change?

The release of this when you put alka seltzer in water demonstrates a chemical change.

What is carbon dioxide (gas/bubbles)?

This indicator of a chemical change happens when you view a candle.

What is production of heat and light?

This indicator of a chemical change happens when iodine mixes with cornstarch.

What is color change?

These are two chemical properties of matter.

What are flammability and reactivity?

When milk or eggs go bad, this indicator of a chemical change happens.

What is an odor/smell?

When you break a glow stick this indicator of a chemical change happens.

What is light is emitted?

Volume, density and solubility are these kinds of properties.

What are physical properties?

This is the density of water.

What is 1?
