2 2011 Wounded Warrior Federal Employment Conference Objectives Educate and assist discharging and soon-to-be- discharged military members on how to apply for jobs with the Department of the Navy (DoN) Assist Wounded Warriors (WW) with resume preparation, applying to CHART DoN (soon to be USA Staffing), and benefits of civil service Assist managers in locating WW candidates February 23-24, 2011 Fort Belvoir, Virginia 2

3 2011 Wounded Warrior Federal Employment Conference Commands We Service February 23-24, 2011 Fort Belvoir, Virginia 3 Human Resources Service Center, Southwest – Over 300 commands serviced by HRSC, SW – To fill all Appropriated Fund jobs for Navy & Marine Corps Commands & Activities (41,307)

4 2011 Wounded Warrior Federal Employment Conference 2008: – HRSC, SW visited WW Battalion (WWBn) West – Submitted proposal to assist transitioning wounded warriors for federal employment at WWBn – HRSC, SW & NE combined efforts to partner with WWBn West 2009: – HRSC, SW began outreach to local, state, and other federal agencies such as EDD, VA, Veterans Village of SD, etc. The Path to Where We are Today February 23-24, 2011 Fort Belvoir, Virginia 4

5 2011 Wounded Warrior Federal Employment Conference 2010: – February – attended the WW Conference in Alexandria, VA – April – HRSC, SW implemented the Wounded Warrior Team (2 full time coordinators,.5 Program Manager,.5 Clerical) – June – HRSC, SW issued the first weekly Wounded Warrior listing to the HROs and managers/selecting officials – The WW listing provides a synopsis of the WW’s background, work experience, skills and discharge information The Path to Where We are Today (cont) February 23-24, 2011 Fort Belvoir, Virginia 5

6 2011 Wounded Warrior Federal Employment Conference We received positive feedback from selecting officials/managers, and HROs and received numerous requests to forward specific WW resumes for possible job consideration Since the issuance of WW weekly listing, we have placed 23 Wounded Warriors in the following commands: – FISC, North Island – NAVFAC (Pt Hueneme, Great Lakes IL, & SW) – PSD Afloat West The Path to Where We are Today (cont) February 23-24, 2011 Fort Belvoir, Virginia 6
