Introduction Designed to enable vehicular communication through wireless sensors The mechanism will aid in reducing the likelihood of accidents in case of visibility issues during extreme weather conditions This system will help a certain vehicle detect all the vehicles in the entire network formed by wireless sensors The system will be available as a platform so that other applications may be built using it
3
Devices Used IRIS Wireless Measurement System 2.4 Ghz mote module were used Several hours of readings were recorded to study the patterns of RSSI The algorithm estimates the distance of a certain sensor when provided by an RSSI value With slight modifications, this algorithm has the flexibility to execute on other kinds of wireless sensors
4
StarNode Algorithm - Overview The StarNode algorithm is capable of localizing all the nodes in the entire network This algorithm provides an accurate estimate of distances between each node Assumption: each vehicle will be equipped with a StarNode (consisting of three wireless sensors set in a particular orientation) One StarNode has the ability to detect the distance & direction of another StarNode

Benefits The framework will be available for other developers to build various applications over it. Several tools such as RStudio and Processing can be used with this framework One of the applications of this framework is vehicular communication It provides an interface between hardware and software
