2 Introduction  Designed to enable vehicular communication through wireless sensors  The mechanism will aid in reducing the likelihood of accidents in case of visibility issues during extreme weather conditions  This system will help a certain vehicle detect all the vehicles in the entire network formed by wireless sensors  The system will be available as a platform so that other applications may be built using it

3 Devices Used  IRIS Wireless Measurement System 2.4 Ghz mote module were used  Several hours of readings were recorded to study the patterns of RSSI  The algorithm estimates the distance of a certain sensor when provided by an RSSI value  With slight modifications, this algorithm has the flexibility to execute on other kinds of wireless sensors

4 StarNode Algorithm - Overview  The StarNode algorithm is capable of localizing all the nodes in the entire network  This algorithm provides an accurate estimate of distances between each node  Assumption: each vehicle will be equipped with a StarNode (consisting of three wireless sensors set in a particular orientation)  One StarNode has the ability to detect the distance & direction of another StarNode

6 Benefits  The framework will be available for other developers to build various applications over it.  Several tools such as RStudio and Processing can be used with this framework  One of the applications of this framework is vehicular communication  It provides an interface between hardware and software
