“Gertrude!” somebody screamed in a real irritating voice. I looked around. It was a parrot.

3 trustworthy trustworthy- able to be relied on as honest and truthful
The girl told the parrot that she was trustworthy. She would not hurt the parrot. She would take care of him.

4 holler holler- gave a loud shout or cry
“I can hear you, “ I hollered back at them.

5 prideful prideful- the quality of having an excessively high opinion of oneself or one’s importance Miss Franny looked around the library. She leaned in close to me. “I don’t want to appear prideful,” she said, “but my daddy was a very rich man.” “I am the best at everything!” said the prideful man.

6 crinkly crinkly- full of creases or wrinkles
She was old with crinkly brown skin. Cicely-Tyson acting in Because of Winn-Dixie.

7 busted “Go on and sit down,” she said, pointing at a lawn chair with the back all busted out of it. . busted- broken, cracked, or smashed

8 snatched snatched- quickly grabbed something in a rude or eager way
The bear snatched the book, War and Peace, and ran away.

9 overgrown overgrown- covered with plants that have been allowed to grow wild You cannot see the house because of the overgrown plants covering it.
