Support to Find Post-Secondary Pathways
Never believe that a post-secondary education is not an option for you!! There are multiple post-secondary options available for students who do not have an OSSD (or who do not have marks/courses in order to apply to college and/or university). Most of these options are called access or outreach programs that offer Academic Completion and/or Transition Programs. Eligibility criteria differ for each program (ie. 19 years or older, OSSD, etc). Many of the programs are FREE or offer financial aid support. “as long as you have the aptitude, desire, and walk through the door … they will help you succeed” Secondary School Apprenticeship College Gap Year University Work

Students with an IEP/IPRC
Universities or Colleges are not aware if you have an IEP/IPRC and received accommodations during secondary school. If you would like to continue to access the supports you have received once you move to post-secondary studies, you must ‘self-identify’ with the appropriate people at the college or university you plan to study at. Your special education teacher or guidance counsellor can help you find that information. This should be done once you accept an offer – don’t wait until school starts in September. There are also financial supports available for students with special academic needs. Information is available at:
