2.   She was born in Lisbon on 5 th October 1911 and died in Cascais on 29 th March 2011, close to 100 years old.  She was a Portuguese mathematician, co-founder and #1 associate of the Portuguese Mathematical Society. Biography

3.   Between 1942 and 1946 she got her PhD in Zurich.  Pilar Ribeiro attended several specialization courses in Mathematics.

4.   In 1947, she left Portugal with her husband, for political reasons, to live in the USA, where she taught Mathematics in the Pennsylvania State University.  She returned to Portugal after the Revolution of 1974 and became a Professor at Instituto de Ciências Biomédicas Abel Salazar in University of Porto, from 1976 and 1980.
