THIS MORNING’S THEME PROVING OUR LOVE: MAKING TOUGH CHOICES Luke 5:1 ‑ 11 In the same way as did those first disciples of Jesus by the Sea of Galilee, we, too, frequently have to make tough choices which will demonstrate, positively or negatively, how much we love God, others, and, yes, ourselves.

THE CALL TO WORSHIP 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a [Pastor / CONGREGATION ] Love is patient; LOVE IS KIND; Love does not envy; IT DOES NOT BOAST; It is not proud; LOVE IS NOT RUDE;

It is not self-seeking; LOVE IS NOT EASILY ANGERED; It keeps no record of wrongs. LOVE DOES NOT DELIGHT IN EVIL, But, rather, it rejoices with the truth. LOVE ALWAYS PROTECTS; It always trusts; IT ALWAYS HOPES; Love always perseveres; LOVE NEVER FAILS.

**THE OPENING HYMN #648 ‘LOVE DIVINE, ALL LOVES EXCELLING’

(1) Love divine, all loves excelling, Joy of heaven, to earth come down; Fix in us Your humble dwelling; All Your faithful mercies crown! Jesus, You are all compassion, Pure, unbounded love You are; Visit us with Your salvation; Enter every trembling heart.

(2) Breathe, O breathe Your loving Spirit Into every troubled breast! Let us all in You inherit; Let us find that second rest. Take away our bent to sinning; Alpha and Omega be; End of faith, as its beginning, Set our hearts at liberty.

(3) Come, Almighty, to deliver, Let us all Your life receive; Suddenly return and never, Nevermore Your temple leave. You we would be always blessing, Serve You as Your hosts above, Pray and praise You without ceasing, Glory in Your perfect love.

(4) Finish, then, Your new creation; pure and spotless let us be. Let us see Your great salvation perfectly restored in You; changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place, till we cast our crowns before You, lost in wonder, love, and praise.

SILENT PRAYERS OF THANKSGIVING AND CONFESSION THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON Isaiah 54:10 Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet My unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor My covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.

THE SONG OF RESPONSE #78 I love you, Lord, and I lift my voice to worship You, O my soul, rejoice! Take joy, my King, in what You hear May it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear. (Please repeat)

THE HOLY SCRIPTURE Luke 5:1-11 Read by Ron VanDyke And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon Jesus to hear the Word of God, He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret, which is also the Sea of Galilee. There He saw two ships standing by the lake but the fishermen were gone out of them, for were washing their nets. And Jesus entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and He asked that Simon would push out a little from the shore.

Then Jesus sat down, and taught the people out of the ship. Now when He had finished speaking, Jesus said unto Simon,“Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a catch of fish.” And Simon answering, said unto Jesus, “Master, we have toiled all the night, and have caught nothing: Nevertheless, at Your word, I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they encircled a great multitude of fish such that their nets began to break apart.

And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that the ships began to sink with the great weight of the catch. When Simon Peter saw what had happened, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.” For Simon Peter was astonished, and all that were with him, at the catch of fish which they had taken. And so also was James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon.

Then Jesus said unto them, “Fear not... for from now on you will be fishers of men.” And when they had brought their ships to the shore, they forsook all, and followed Jesus.

THE SONG OF PREPARATION: #349 O HOW HE LOVES YOU AND ME O how He loves you and me! He gave His life; What more could He give? O how He loves you! O how He loves me! O how He loves you and me!

Jesus to Calvary did go; His love for sinners to show. What He did there brought hope from despair. O how He loves you! O how He loves me! O how He loves you and me!
