4 Great Wall of China Located in the deep mountains about 45 miles from Beijing, The Great Wall of China enjoys a long history of over 2000 years and constitutes splendid Chinese culture. The wall was first built in Qi Dynasty (550 ‐ 557). In the Ming Dynasty (1368 ‐ 1644), Tan Lun and Qi Jiguang, two famous patriotic generals, rebuilt it in order to strengthen the country’s defensive potential. It served as the northern protective screen, guarding the capital and imperial mausoleums for generations. The Great Wall at Badaling and Mutianyu are the most impressive.

5 Ming Tombs The Ming Dynasty (1368 ‐ 1644) is one of the longest dynasties in ancient China. Most of the emperors died and were buried in the Ming tombs area at the foot of Yanshan mountain in the northern part of Beijing. A person will be able to experience what the Chinese people achieved at that time, in terms of deep sea navigation and large scale renovation of the Great Wall.

6 Tea is the most popular drink in China. It seems that Chinese people can not live without drinking tea. As one of the major tea producers, China is very famous for tea. You will have a chance to learn about Chinese tea, in terms of tea making, tea appreciation, and very importantly, its medicinal value. Tea Ceremony

7 Dongzhimen Hospital Beijing University of Chinese Medicine is a state level key institution under the direct leadership of the State Education Commission. Dongzhimen hospital opened in 1958 and is a tertiary A hospital with nearly 900 beds for inpatients on two campuses. Dongzhimen hospital is an affiliate to Beijing University of Chinese Medicine. It also has a clinical research base (TCM) with special focus on stroke, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, nephropathy and other illnesses.

8 Beijing Medicinal Botanic Garden Beijing Medicinal Botanic Garden is the Chinese herbal cultivation base of providing herbs for scientific research. There are more than 600 kinds of medicinal plants in this 160- acre ground. An introduction of the Chinese Medicinal Botanic Garden is special. All kinds of trees, shrubs and perennial root medicinal plants have signage with its name and medical values.

9 Beijing, The Capital Beijing is the nation's political, economic, cultural, educational and international trade and communication center. As one of the six ancient cities in China, it has been the heart and soul of politics and society throughout its long history, and consequently there is an unparalleled wealth of discovery to delight and intrigue travelers as they explore the city's ancient past and exciting modern development.

10 Tiananmen Square Located in the center of Beijing City is Tiananmen Square, where you can visit Tiananmen Tower, Monument to the People’s Heroes, Great Hall of the People, Mao Zedong Memorial Hall and see the national flag raising ceremony.

11 The Forbidden City Situated at the heart of Beijing, the Forbidden City is approached through Tiananmen Gate. It is a location endowed with cosmic significance by China’s ancient astronomers. The Forbidden City was built from 1406 to 1420 by the third Ming emperor Yongle who, upon usurping the throne, determined to move his capital north from Nanjing to Beijing. In 1911 the Qing dynasty fell to the republican revolutionaries. The last emperor, Puyi, continued to live in the palace after his abdication until he was expelled in 1924. Twenty ‐ four emperors lived and ruled from this palace during this 500 ‐ year span.

14 Maglev Train The top operational commercial speed of this train is 431 km/h (268 mph), making it the world's fastest train in regular commercial service since its opening in 2004, faster than TGV in France and also faster than the latest CRH conventional wheel train in China at 350 km/h (217 mph).

15 Suzhou University Medical College The Medical College, set up in 1912 and known as Private Nantong Specialized Medical School, was renamed as Soochow Medical College in 1957. After the merger with Soochow University in 2000, the college was renamed Medical College of Soochow University. The Medical College has departments in Basic Medical Science & Bio Science; the Department of Radiology & Protection; the Department of Public Health; the Department of Pharmacology and the Department of Nursing. There are also three clinical departments. The total number of students is 8,200, of whom 3,000 are graduate students, 4,800 are undergraduate students and 400 are students from overseas. The College does not have a Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine. However, senior medical students have a class called "basics of the integration of Chinese Medicine & Western Medicine." The class teaches basic knowledge of Chinese Medicine, especially Tuina (Chinese Medical Massage) and Acupuncture. Traditional Chinese Medicine is deeply rooted in the hearts of the Chinese people. However there is a trend to integrate TCM and western medicine.

16 Suzhou TCM Hospital Founded in 1956, Suzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine is a tertiary A hospital with 800 thousand outpatients annually. The hospital has over 1000 medical professionals and 800 beds for inpatients. The hospital is also where Suzhou Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Suzhou Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Suzhou Traditional Chinese Medicine Museum are located. The hospital has a training center where acupuncture and medical massage are taught. It is a great place to visit. The integration of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine is highly appreciated and generally practiced in the hospital. Besides prescribing western medicine, doctors also make very good use of modern medical equipment in the process of diagnosis. The hospital is affiliated with Nanjing Medical University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The hospital works with Shanghai Medical University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in a joint masters’ degree program.

18 Suzhou Built in 514 BC, Suzhou is an ancient city with a 2,500 year history. As the saying goes ‐ "Gardens to the south of Yangtze River are the best in the world, and Suzhou gardens are the best among them".

19 Grand Canal Float down the Grand Canal, the world's oldest and longest man ‐ made waterway, to see the local people's life in classical South China style. There are many bridges constructed in different styles. While passing under the road ‐ side jasmine trees, one may see the canal-side houses with their quaint foundations and over ‐ hanging balconies.

20 Tiger Hill With a history of more than 2,500 years, Tiger Hill, a hillock about 30 meters in height, is one of the most renowned tourist destinations in Suzhou. However, this tourist attraction comprises nearly a dozen historic and cultural relics: Tomb of King He Lu, Yunyan Pagoda, Sword ‐ testing Stone, the Thousand Men Rock, and the Sword Pond. The millennium ‐ old Tiger Hill Yunyan pagoda stands on top of the hill and is considered the symbol of Suzhou.

21 Suzhou‐style Bonsai Suzhou bonsai is noted for its plainness and elegance. Old twigs aged 40, 60 and even 100 years old are planted in a small plate and presented in different shapes ‐‐ drooping, prostrate, looking up or bending down.
