2 What is Study Abroad and Exchange? Glasgow offers one of the longest running Study Abroad and Exchange programmes in the UK – 30 years and counting! Over 350 students go out every year to study or work - 2 nd biggest programme in Scotland! We offer a range of short-term and long- term programmes – something to suit everyone International Exchange (outwith Europe) STUDY EXCHANGE Erasmus+ (within Europe) STUDY OR WORK

Most subject areas participate except Medicine, Vet Med & Dentistry (speak to these subjects directly for opportunities) Good academic progress - all exchanges must be approved by the sending subject(s) Support for students with specific learning requirements All ages welcome - including Mature students

10 Programme Features Study Abroad and Exchanges ERASMUS+INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE FUNDING AVAILABLE?Erasmus+ Grant if eligible – contribution to living costs Some scholarships may be available LANGUAGE SKILLS REQUIRED? Many partners teach in English; online language support available; language support at Glasgow available through Language Centre Majority of partners teach in English; language support at Glasgow available through Language Centre WORK PLACEMENT OPTION?Yes – depending on degree subject No INTEGRATED WITH DEGREE?Yes – subject approval required; credits transferred back Yes – subject approval required; credits transferred back DURATION?Full year or single semester

11 Associated Costs? Reciprocal exchange – no tuition fee payable to university overseas Student is responsible for all other costs – accommodation, living expenses, travel, insurance, visa Still eligible for student loan etc. Erasmus grant if eligible International Exchange: some small scholarships are available

12 How Does It Work? Apply to the programme - Most subjects sent out in 3 rd year; so students apply at start of 2 nd year. - Sciences may send out in 2 nd year; so students apply at start of 1 st year. Apply to your host Register and pay tuition to Glasgow as normal for the year Credits transfer back Continuous support- here and overseas

15 School Deadlines International Exchange: 27 November 2015 Prior to the School deadline you must meet the Course Coordinator for your intended Level 3 Honours programme to discuss your plans for exchange and agree your course matches. From 30 November we will arrange for you to meet the School’s Subject Coordinator to finalise your application. ERASMUS+: 20 January 2016 From December onwards you must arrange to meet the Course Coordinator for your intended Level 3 Honours programme to discuss your plans for exchange and agree your course matches. During the week of 25 January we will arrange for you to meet the School’s Subject Coordinator to finalise your application.
