2  Design a bridge in WestPoint bridge builder.  Minimal overall cost.  If bridge is below 24m, excavation of river banks is required.  The highest point must not exceed 8.5m above the river banks.  Must be constructed of no more than 50 joints and no more than 120 members.

3  Bridge deck must be 10m wide to accommodate traffic.  May choose from different member materials.  May choose either hollow or solid members.  Must be able to support its own weight along with a 480kN load from passing traffic.

4  Bridge can either have one lane or two lanes on the deck.  The bridge must comply with safety provisions of the 1994 LRFD AASHTO Bridge Design Specification. Material densities Load combinations Tensile strength of members Compressive strength of members

5  Deck Elevation 8 meters- $75,200  High-Strength concrete- $5,000  Quenched Hollow tube- $32,764.18  Product cost- $6,000  Excavation cost- $67,000  Abutment cost- $24,800  Total cost- $165,764.18

10  This design of bridge was decided to be the final design because it was the cheapest and most versatile bridge design.  it also follows all of the constraints listed in the design brief.
