CSU Dominguez Hills The Financial Aid Office disbursed over $137 million in total financial aid awarded to assist students with their educational costs. Of the $137 million, $84 million is in grants and scholarships. csudh

Applying for Financial Aid Notifications Students may be randomly selected by FAFSA or DREAM Act applications for a verification process. In this event the office will send students an email notification and direct them to the Student Center at MyCSUDH to view their “To Do” List. –Students selected for this process must submit documents to verify information reported –Students are notified through their campus email account with a document submission deadline –Typical documents requested Tax Transcript (not a copy of the tax return) Proof of citizenship or residency status Verification Form csudh

Applying for Financial Aid IRS Data Retrieval The IRS Data Retrieval Tool allows students/parents to securely and accurately transfer their IRS tax information to the FAFSA. Using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool increases the accuracy of financial aid awards and reduces the amount of documents that the Financial Aid Office may request. If selected for verification, students/parents will not need to provide a copy of tax transcripts. csudh

Applying for Financial Aid Awards If students are eligible, they will receive an email notification to check their financial aid award on the Student Center at My.CSUDH Students will also receive a Financial Aid Award Guide which contains pertinent information about the different types of financial aid awards as well as explains their rights and responsibilities as a financial aid recipient Students must accept or decline their awards online on the Student Center at My.CSUDH within 15 days to avoid cancellation of their awards. csudh

Types of Awards Gift Aid Grants - federal or state funds awarded based on need and do not require repayment Scholarships – free money based on merit Self-help Aid Loans - borrowed money that must be repaid Federal Work-Study – federal funds provided to employ students (on and off campus) who qualify for financial aid csudh

Financial Aid Application Deadlines FAFSA and CA DREAM Application deadline - March 2, 2016 All requested documents must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by May 12, 2016. csudh

Registration Fees Payment cont. csudh Students that miss the May 12 deadline, may still submit needed documents Students will be responsible for paying their Fall 2016 tuition fees by the tuition due date or their classes will be dropped. CSUDH will accept payment for tuition fees in-full or may consider signing up for the Installment Plan.

Financial Aid Refunds Financial Aid Disbursement –Begin disbursing financial aid to student accounts the week prior to start of semester –Continuous –Based on enrollment certain awards are adjust based on enrollment (full time, three-quarter time, half-time, less than half-time) –Other requirements Loan requirements Cal Grant forms Students may elect to receive their refund via Direct Deposit or a check will be mailed to their mailing address on file with the University Mailing address csudh
