3 1.Share your picture with your partner. 2. Together as a group come up with your own definition of FAMILY (everyone will write on the LEFT hand side of notebook) 3. Pick one person from the group who will share with the class.

11 Foster Family  Families who provide care for children when their parents are unable to care for them; usually these families are court ordered. 13 Cohabitating Couples  In this kind of family, the couple lives together but is not married.  Either one or both of them are the biological or adoptive parents of the children.  May also be childfree. Draw Picture on Left hand side of notebook

14 Same Sex Family  Children are sometimes reared by a lesbian or gay single parent or two gay or lesbian adults filling parenting roles.  Adults may bring children from a heterosexual relationship to these families  Children may have been adopted or conceived by medical procedures, such as alternative (artificial) insemination. 15 Multicultural Families  Each parent has a different ethnicity or culture.  The children grow up learning about many different cultures and /or belong to two or more race/ethnicities. Draw Picture on Left hand side of notebook
